Valencia

Valencia Club de Futbol, founded on March 18, 1919, is a professional football club based in Valencia, Spain. The club plays its home matches at the Estadio de Mestalla, a historic 49,430-capacity stadium that has been Valencia's home since 1923, making it one of the oldest continuously used major stadiums in European football. Valencia has won La Liga six times, most recently in the 2003-04 season under coach Rafael Benitez, and the Copa del Rey eight times, including the most recent triumph in 2019. The club has also won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup once and the UEFA Europa League once. Valencia reached back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001, though they lost both, to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively. The club's academy has produced exceptional talents including David Silva, Juan Mata, Isco, and Paco Alcacer. Valencia's iconic bat emblem on the club crest references the bat that, according to legend, alighted on the flag of King James I of Aragon when he conquered the city in 1238.
