RCD Mallorca, founded on March 5, 1916, is a professional football club based in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands, Spain. The club plays its home matches at the Estadi de Son Moix, officially known as Visit Mallorca Estadi, with a capacity of 23,142 spectators. Mallorca is the only Balearic club to have played in La Liga, having spent over 30 seasons in the top flight. The club's most successful period came in the late 1990s and early 2000s, highlighted by winning the Copa del Rey in 2003 and reaching the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in 1999 under coach Hector Cuper. The club also achieved its highest-ever La Liga finish of third place in the 1998-99 season, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. Mallorca won the Supercopa de Espana in 1998. The club faced severe financial difficulties in the 2010s, falling to the Segunda Division B, but was revitalized following acquisition by American businessman Robert Sarver and NBA star Steve Nash in 2016. Under coach Jagoba Arrasate, Mallorca has re-established itself as a solid La Liga club. The club's red and black home kit has earned it the nickname 'Los Bermellones.'
