Pohang Steelers

Pohang Steelers is a professional football club based in Pohang, South Korea, and one of the founding members of the K League. Established in 1973 and sponsored by POSCO, the club plays its home matches at the Pohang Steel Yard, the first football-specific stadium built in South Korea, with a capacity of 17,443. Pohang has won the K League 1 title five times, with championships in 1986, 1988, 1992, 2007, and 2013, the latter forming part of a historic domestic double. The club has won the Korean FA Cup six times and the Korean League Cup twice. Most remarkably, Pohang holds the record for the most Asian club championships by any Korean team, having won the AFC Champions League (and its predecessor, the Asian Club Championship) three times, in 1997, 1998, and 2009. The club is renowned for its youth development system and has produced numerous Korean internationals. Key figures in the current squad include goalkeeper Hwang In-jae, midfielder Kim In-sung, and Brazilian forward Manuel Palacios.
