Levante

Levante UD, originally founded in 1909, is a professional football club based in Valencia, Spain. The club plays its home matches at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia, a 26,354-capacity stadium that has served as Levante's home since 1969. Levante is one of the oldest football clubs in Spain, with its earliest roots tracing back to a team formed by workers at the Valencia docks. The club's name derives from the Levante wind that blows from the east in the Mediterranean region. Levante has spent 17 seasons in La Liga, with notable periods of top-flight football in the 1960s and 2010s. One of the club's most remarkable achievements came in the 2011-12 season when Levante topped La Liga after the opening 10 rounds, a stunning feat for a club of its modest resources. The club has won the Segunda Division twice and the Copa de la Reina (women's cup) multiple times. Levante shares a fierce city rivalry with Valencia CF in the Valencian derby.
