Daejeon Hana Citizen FC is a professional football club based in Daejeon, South Korea. Founded in 1997 as Daejeon Citizen, the club was acquired by Hana Financial Group in 2020, becoming Daejeon Hana Citizen. The club plays its home matches at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium, which holds 40,535 spectators and was built for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Daejeon won the K League 2 title in 2022 to earn promotion to K League 1 and has since established itself in the top division. The club has never won the K League 1 title but has reached the Korean FA Cup final. Daejeon is known for its passionate fanbase and its connection to the science and technology hub of Daejeon. Under manager Hwang Sun-hong, the club has made significant investment in the squad, signing Korean international right-back Kim Moon-hwan and other experienced players to bolster their top-flight ambitions.
